CANCELLED: Introduction to Digital Photography - Understanding Digital Cameras
This workshop session is intended to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the digital camera. We will explore how digital cameras work and how that differs from film cameras ... and why it is significant. You'll bring your digital camera and its instruction manual: we'll look at a variety of the functions and features, explore how to choose options to use it best. We'll talk about how those functions and features apply to all digital cameras. Of course, we’ll also talk about how to choose a digital camera! In the hands-on we will spend plenty of time experimenting with taking pictures, changing settings, and, as usual, asking and answering questions to allow you to exploit your camera better in making great photographs. No pre-requisites. Students are required to bring their digital cameras and instruction manuals. |

Introduction to Lightroom - Essentials to Understanding and Use
Recent years has seen the development of much better, more efficient tools that address in very powerful ways the specific needs of digital photography. Adobe's Photoshop Lightroom is a class-leading contender in this development arc, and has become the essential working tool of great numbers of photographers. In this workshop, we will explore the basics of using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to manage and process your photographs. We'll explore the import process, add captions, titles, and other metadata to them, and then learn how to sort and pick images for adjustment. We will examine the flow of operations in Lightroom for adjusting color and tone, cropping and spot removal. And we'll look at how to export your finished photos to finished image files for use outside of Lightroom. In the hands-on time, you'll practice the techniques we've discussed with either your own photos or with a set of photos provided, and will have plenty of time to ask and answer questions, allowing you to take away the basic skills for working with your photographs using this specially-made for photography tool. Introduction to Processing Photographs with Photoshop
Long a staple of the digital photography community, Photoshop keeps getting better and more powerful. We'll start here with the basics: this workshop focuses on learning how just a few of Photoshop's many tools can achieve great results with your photographs. We will concentrate on working with layers and masks, learning how these can be used to adjust an image overall or selectively. You will analyze images, learning how to approach the editing process from a basis of that analysis and understanding. We’ll discuss sharpening fundamentals and how to apply them. In the hands-on time, you will work with several image files to practice the techniques and cement them in your hands and memory. And of course, there will be plenty of time to ask and answer questions allowing you to take away a solid foundation from which to go much further with Photoshop. Pre-requisite: #1 or approval of instructor. |
